Lovingly known as Betty passed away peacefully in her sleep from natural causes on July 6, 2024, attended by family. Betty (Michael) was born in Orlando, Florida on November 22, 1929. She was the youngest of eight children who have all preceded her in death.
She left high school before graduation to marry James Douglas Buchanan. They eloped to Folkston, Georgia and were married for 73 years until his passing on July 26, 2021. They lived in several states compliments of the USAF. They were stationed in Japan for four years which she enjoyed and reminisced about her entire life. Betty returned to school at the age of 38 to complete her GED, a task she was very proud of. She quickly promoted to managing every type of business she worked at and some may remember her managing Mix-n-Match Women's Clothing in old downtown Vacaville.
Betty loved her family, music, dancing, playing games, and fishing day and night with the best anglers. She and James always found time to make a quick trip to the Eldorado in Reno, Nevada as Betty was the luckiest person anyone ever knew.
Her children, Jim Buchanan & Gabrielle, Nancy Larkin & Gene and Diane Kidder & Todd, along with her nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren will always remember her with much love and the laughter she brought us.
A memorial ceremony for Betty and James (as they requested) will be held at the Sacramento Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on October 25, 2024 at 1 p.m.
