Obituary for Mark W. Holdener
With broken hearts, the family announces Mark William Holdener’s passing on May 20, at the age of 56. His loving family surrounded Mark when he lost his battle to cancer and congestive heart failure at North Bay Hospital. Mark, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, son and friend is lived on by his wife Rosa Holdener; three children Kayla, Kristina, and Sarah; Step-son Ernesto De Alba; sisters Mary Davis and Melissa Holdener; Mother Kathy Holdener; the newest member of our family Austin Rosario (9 months), and nieces Aimee and Caitlin Davis. Mark and his twin Mary were born in Woodland on February 26. From a young age he was out on the ranch with his dad learning the tricks of the trade. In high school he was in FFA and once he graduated from Dixon High in 1980, he was all too eager to make his home in Vacaville, and that is where he has resided ever since. He enjoyed attending NHRA races, boating on lake Berryessa, and spending time with his family and friends. Farming was his great passion, he took much pride in his work and he was ecstatic to pass on his knowledge of farming to his daughter Kayla. The men he hired were not just his workers but also his friends. Mark participated in many agriculture related events in the community, he served on the Dixon Resource Conservation District for many years. Mark was preceded in death by his father William W. Holdener, his grandparents Wendell and Pauline Holdener and George and Agnes Brown.
