Obituary for Marie Imogene Rutledge
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Marie Rutledge, passed away peacefully in Woodland on March 27, 2010 at the age of 87. She was born to Herbert Clem and Lillie Pittman on July 21, 1922 in England, Arkansas. She was married to Sparkley Rutledge for 37 years until his death in 1974. She was a long-time member of the Woodland United Fellowship church. She worked in the 1950s as a nurse's aide for the old Yolo General Hospital. After its closure she went to work as a practical nurse and caregiver to many people throughout Yolo and Solano counties until her retirement in 1970.
She is survived by her son Bob Rutledge and wife Ellen (Dixon), son Ed Rutledge and wife Carolyn (Dixon), and daughter Ruby Luna (Woodland). She had six grandchildren, Michael Luna, Julie Munoz, Barbara Stacey, Kim Long, Richard Rutledge, and Regina Burlison. She had 15 great grandchildren, 11 great, great grandchildren, and 1 great, great, great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Lillie, husband Sparkley, grandson Bobby, brothers John, Olas, and Garland, sisters Ruth, Edrie, Ora, and Eunice, and son-in-law Gabe Luna.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
