Obituary for Marie Elizabeth Fogarty
Marie was born in Rowe, Illinois on May 25, 1918 to Leo and Irene Ribordy. She passed away at home after a short illness on June 23. She married Gilbert Fogarty in 1941; they were married 49 years before he passed away in 1991. Marie was a teacher for 32 years. She first taught in a one room school house in Illinois for three years before moving to California. She then taught in Vacaville for 29 years before retiring in 1973. She received her education from St. Paul High School in Odell, IL, graduating in 1935 and went on to St. Francis College in Joliet, IL graduating in 1939. Marie enjoyed the time she spent with her various clubs and social activities which included the Vaca Valley Garden Club where she was a past president, Delta Kappa Gamma where she was a 50 year member and past president, she was also a YLI past president and a member of the St. Mary's Women's Club. She was also an avid bridge player. Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Armand Bascherini; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeanne and David Constantine and Virginia and Don Neville; sisters-in-law, Joanne Ribordy and Joyce Ribordy; grandchildren, Brian and Curtis Bascherini and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Irene Ribordy; brothers, Jim and Joe Ribordy and her grandson, Steven Bascherini. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 28, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m., at McCune Garden Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 29, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Father Michael McFadden will be the celebrant. Friends are encouraged to make a donation in Marie's honor to Northbay Hospice or their favorite charity.
