Obituary for Margaret Murlee Purcell Schroeder
Margaret Murlee Purcell Schroeder passed away on Sunday March 30, 2014 inVacaville, CA. She was married to Elmer Schroeder of Dixon, CA who passed away in 1994. They had three children: William Schroeder (Kathy) of Dixon, Sharon Schroeder Vogel (George) who preceded her mother in death and Eloise Schroeder Buhlert (Jan) of Pine Grove, CA. Margaret was born on September 18, 1920 in Watertown, South Dakota, to Lester and Mae Purcell. She had a sister, Leone Popham of Watertown, SD, and a brother, Wayne Purcell of Chehalis, WA, both deceased. She also has two younger brothers, both living, Bob Purcell of Washington, IL and Chuck Purcell of Sioux Falls, SD. Margaret attended Beauty Academy in Watertown and worked as a beautician before marriage. She met Elmer while he was taking flying lessons in Watertown. They married in the Watertown Methodist Church on January 11. 1942. Later that year, they moved to Texas for a short time where Elmer was a flight instructor for the Army Air Corps. After Texas, they moved to Dixon, where they spent the rest of their lives living in the Schroeder farm home built by the Schroeder family in 1873. They loved their life on the farm where they raised their children and enjoyed their time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret was a very caring, loving and active person who was dedicated to serving in the Dixon community. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Womans Improvement Club. She delivered meals-on-wheels, served as voting precinct inspector and provided transportation for many of her friends to medical appointments. She loved playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs. All family and friends are invited to attend graveside services at Dixon / Silveyville Cemetery on Monday, April 7 at 11:00 AM.
