Obituary for Madonna Jeanne (Leonard) Sexton
Madonna Jeanne (Leonard) Sexton, age 89, of Campbell, passed away Saturday, February 17 at Pacific Senior Living, ending her battle against Dementia. Madonna was born July 17, 1928, to Clement and Margaret (Jorgenson) Leonard in Watertown, South Dakota, where she was raised and attended schools. She married Richard C. Sexton on June 26, 1948, in Watertown, and celebrated 60 years of married life before Richard passed away on December 27, 2008. The couple lived in Watertown until moving to California in 1956, finally settling in Campbell in 1965. Madonna was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker who enjoyed various crafts, travelling, collecting bells, and above all, spending time with her family which loved her banana bread and German chocolate cake. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister Dolores Leisure; four brothers, Laurence, Lloyd, Lee and Russell. She is survived by her children, Scott (Corinne) Sexton of Vacaville, and Lori Toland of San Jose; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. A visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. with rosary at 7:00pm at McCune Garden Chapel. Mass will be held Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to any Dementia, Alzheimer’s or Diabetes Research Foundation.
