Obituary for Lynda Kay Moorhead
Lynda Kay Moorhead passed away on June 21, of a long illness. Lynda was born Oct. 6, 1943 in Okmulgee, OK to Grady Smith Sr., and Lora Annie Smith. Lynda and her family moved to Fairfield in the late 1940's where she would live until moving to Vacaville in 2004. Lynda graduated from Armijo High School in 1962 and married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Moorhead, and would have been soon celebrating their 56th Anniversary. For many years Lynda and Tom were heavily involved in youth sports in Fairfield. In her younger years Lynda was quite an athlete, but, after having children, Lynda then served on multiple local little league boards, coached several softball teams in Fairfield and in her later years volunteered for the Vacaville Bobby Sox Softball program. Lynda was a staple at her children's and grandchildren's multiple basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball and softball games they played throughout the country. Lynda enjoyed talking to people while getting their cars serviced at the family business, Moorhead Automotive Center. She was an outdoorsman and loved camping and hunting but loved her family and friends most of all. Lynda was a kind soul and will be greatly missed. Lynda is survived by her husband, Tom; her daughter, Jennifer (Dan); son, Gary (Vicky), and son, Jeff (Melissa); grandchildren, Cara, Lora, Dale, Hannah, Daniel, Jason, Sydney, Maddy and Tyler; great grandchildren, Cody, James, Jacob, Sofie, Leyna, Montana, Demarco, and Danny. A visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville. Funeral will be 10 a.m., Thursday at McCune Garden Chapel.
