Obituary for Lyle Rea Zimmerman
Lyle Rea Zimmerman of Vacaville passed away at his home in Vacaville on Nov. 22 after a long illness. He was born in Emmett, Idaho on Jan. 25, 1932.Lyle served in the the United States Marine Corp in the 3rd Marine Division during the Korean War from 1951 to 1952. He was a lifetime Contractor retiring in 1991. He also worked as a lead custodian for Valley Church until he retired in 2006.Lyle was a very loving and kind man. He loved woodworking, baking, fishing, family, friends and Jesus! He was a member of Valley Church Vacaville and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.Lyle is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Yona Zimmerman; brother, Forest Zimmerman; daughters, Sharon Persek, Shelley Zimmerman Moore (Robert); son, Mark Lyle Zimmerman (Jana); 6 grandchildren, Magen Persek Boykin (Brad), Dustin Persek (Whitney), Lucas Zimmerman (Vanessa), Carley Zimmerman Anderson (Peter), Alyssa and R. J. Moore; 5 great-grandchildren, McKenna and Alexa Boykin, McEwen Jones, Anna and Adalynne Zimmerman. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Zimmerman and Beulah Wagner and son-in-law, Donald Persek.A Commitment with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon. A memorial service with Dr. Raleigh Galgan officiating will follow at 2 p.m. at Valley Church, 5063 Maple Road. Contributions can be made to NorthBay Hospice.
