Obituary for Leroy (Lee) Clyde Kovisto
Leroy (Lee) Clyde Kovisto passed away on Nov. 17. He enjoyed all of life's gifts.
Lee demonstrated this everyday by his faith in God, love of family, friends, the outdoors, and sports. He was a gentleman in every sense.
Lee loved his wife, Jacoba, and they recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Son of Louis Kovisto and Olga Maki Kovisto, Lee was born April 28, 1928 in Waukegan, IL. After finishing high school, he and his family moved to California. He served in the Army from 1950 to 1952 with the rank of Corporal. He utilized the GI Bill and earned a bachelor's degree from San Francisco State.
He and his twin brother, Louis, played on the golf team, having learned the game as caddies in the Chicago suburbs.
An avid sportsman, he excelled at golf, skiing and most any sport he played. He had at least six holes-in-one. He loved trout fishing with his brother Lou and their sons.
He had a long career in the corrugated box industry. After retirement, Lee could most likely be found on a golf course, where he continued to play excellent golf well into his 70s. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and SIRS.
He is survived by his wife, Jacoba; sons, Matthew (Laurie) and Joel (Claire); grandkids, Andrew (Sophia), Bradley (Caitlyn), Fiona, and Vivian; twin brother Louis; his sister, Audrey; younger brother, Donald; along with numerous nieces and nephews, who loved him.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, Dec. 3, at 12 p.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church, 621 So. Orchard Ave., Vacaville, CA.
