Obituary for Leila "Lee" Hartman-Parker
Lee passed away on October 20th after a brief illness at the age of 86. She was born on August 6, 1928 in Santa Maria, CA to John and Florence Hartman. Lee lived her preschool years on a union oil company lease in the Orcuitt Hills. She attended Oricutt grade school and Santa Maria High. Lee met her future husband, Burnard Parker, at a dance in Santa Maria. He was stationed at the Santa Maria Air Force Base. After graduating high school, Lee worked at the Napa hospital for a year before moving to Manhattan Kansas where she married Burnie on June 6th 1947. She worked and supported her husband through college as a waitress and telephone operator. After his graduation they moved to Los Angeles. In 1957 they moved to Phoenix and started their family. They then moved to San Francisco where they raised three sons. Lee and Burnie retired and moved to Benicia. In 2003 they settled in Vacaville. Lee attended Unity Church and was a member of A.R.E. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends, traveling and dancing. Lee is survived by her husband of 68 years, Burnard Parker; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce (Carol) Parker, David (Laura) Parker and Debbie Parker; grandchildren, Michael, Ben and Robert Parker. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Parker; parents, John and Florence Hartman and her sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Myron Stanley. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 14th at McCune Garden Chapel at 11am. All are welcome.
