Obituary for Laura Grace Lyons
The life of a wonderful dedicated servant of our Lord Jesus Christ ended on September 17, 2015 after battling Alzheimer for more than seven years. Her just reward was being called home to live comfortably and peacefully in her mansion in the sky. Laura Grace Green was born October 7, 1928 in Travelers Rest, South Carolina to her parents Hattie Maggie Naomi McKenzie Green and Clarence Milton Green. She had seven sisters and one brother. Laura attended Golden Grove Elementary School and Sterling High School. In 1953, she graduated from South Carolina State University located in Orangeburg, South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts with a minor in Tailoring. Laura also enjoyed sewing, entertaining and helping and hosting family and friend’s dinner parties. Surviving is her husband of 58 years, Eugene Lyons, daughter Laura Bogardus and husband Ronald Bogardus of Vacaville, California; two sons, Eugene Lyons, Jr. of Prior Lake, Minnesota and Golvin Scott Lyons and wife De Anna Lyons of Sacramento, California. Two surviving sisters, Zannie Magnolia Hagood and Hattie Estella Green, both of Travelers Rest, South Carolina. She also leaves eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Visitation services are Tuesday, September 22, 2015, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main Street, Vacaville, CA 95688. Funeral services are Wednesday, September 23, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 1127 Davis Street, Vacaville, CA 95687.
