Obituary for Katherine 'Tillie'Kitchen
Katherine Othelia 'Tillie' Kitchen of Dixon passed away June 6, after a short illness, just after celebrating her 96th birthday. She was born May 24, 1916 in Pleasant Ridge South Dakota to Jacob and Magadelina Lutz. She married James Richard Kitchen on May 27, 1936 and they had six children during their 41 years together. They moved to Dixon in 1947. Tillie is survived by sons Elmer (Judy), Larry (Sharon), daughters Delores (Harry) Della (Jerry) and daughter-in-law Mary. She was preceded in death by husband James, son Richard (Dick), daughter Betty, and two great grandsons. She leaves behind a legacy of 20 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. After 23 years working in the plant pathology department at U.C. Davis she retired and she also served as President of the Senior Citizen Center, as Grand Nobel Rebecca, is a former Senior of the year, and was a member of the Dixon Garden Club. Arrangements are being made by the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon where there will be a viewing on Tuesday, June 12, from 5 to 8pm. The following day, June 13, at 1:00 pm the funeral service will be held at the funeral home followed by the burial at the Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon. The post funeral get-together will be announced at the service. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church of Dixon.
