Obituary for Julia Margaret Finnegan
Julia Margaret Finnegan, 83, of Vacaville passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019. She was born June 3, 1935, in Battersea, London to Robert and Helen Molson. She loved telling stories about her “Teddy Girl” teenage years. Julia met the love of her life, Charles, in London while he was stationed there with the U.S. Air Force. They were married on February 1, 1958 and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year. Charles’ military career took them all over the U.S. and England, but they made their final home in Vacaville in 1979. After raising their seven children, Julia went to work at J.C. Penney’s. She had a passion for animals and always fed the neighborhood cats. After many years in this country, she proudly became a U.S. citizen in 2014. Everyone in town knew where Julia would be on Saturday mornings. She and her only daughter, Marie, would be hitting every garage they could find. Julia became a regular at garage selling and with her wonderful British accent, she would always ask if they gave a “senior discount.” Julia loved to dance and would always be the first one on the dance floor. Above all, her love for her family was unmatched, and she was happiest when they were all together. Julia is survived by her husband, Charles, her daughter Marie (Butch) Johnson, sons Jake (Lisa), Patrick, Charlie (Debbie), Mike (Ann), Sean (Carol), and Robert. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter in law, Stefanie Baum Finnegan. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 22, at 9:30 a.m. at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main Street, Vacaville, CA.
