Obituary for Joyce Ann Wilkerson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Ann Wilkerson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, who went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2025. Known to many as Mrs. Wilkerson or simply Joyce, her most cherished titles were Wife, Mom, and Nannie. She was a gift to all who knew her — a woman of deep kindness, grace, and beauty, both inside and out. Joyce’s heart was pure gold. She lived a life that reflected the virtues described in Proverbs 31:10-31, setting an example of love, selflessness, and faith for her family and all who crossed her path. Her brilliant blue eyes and gentle spirit left an unforgettable mark on everyone she met. A talented craftswoman, Joyce lovingly created countless blankets and gifts at her sewing machine. She had a passion for flowers, plants, and birdwatching — finding joy and wonder in the beauty of God's creation. Her greatest treasures were her twelve grandchildren: Braxton, Bear, Gabriel, Mattilyn, Alyssa, Audrey, Blake, McJagger, Emma, Olivia, Rocket, and HattiMei. She lived for her family, teaching her children and grandchildren the importance of faith, love, and togetherness. She loved the beach, family adventures, and trips to Disneyland — where she was known for her love of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and her talent for finding the best churros in the park. Joyce is survived by her devoted husband, David Wilkerson; her children, Matthew and Jenna Wilkerson, Tamela and Ramon Benton, Tiffany and Jimmy Thiessen; her loving mother, Wanda Chapin; her siblings, Lurine Dalzell, Tomi Hindsley, Harold “Buddy” Flowers, and Denny Chapin III. She was our light, our glue, and our angel here on earth. Though we will miss her deeply, her legacy of love, faith, and joy will live on through all of us.
