Obituary for Josephine Bera Moreno
Born on Jan. 22, 1921, she passed away peacefully with family members at her side on Feb. 23, at the age of 92. She will be forever remembered as a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and neighbor. The daughter of the late Frank and Mary Bera, and the adored sister of the late Frank, Joe, John, Sunday, and Henry Bera, she was born in Vacaville and was a lifetime resident. Josie as she was affectionately called by her family and friends was blessed with uncommon beauty, style, grace, compassion, and wisdom that endeared her to all who knew her. She was a retired employee of Basic Vegetable Products Company. She volunteered many hours supporting charities and organizations she felt compassionate about. Her love for gardening kept her very busy at home, She learned to be an avid sports fan always trying to support her husband and children's love and interest. But, more than anything Josephine's greatest joy was spending time with her family and loved ones supporting and guiding them with her wisdom and kindness. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Betty and Doug Hatley, Dora Powles, Augie and Bonnie Moreno, David Moreno, and Debi and Tim Shippey; grandchildren, Steve Powles, Vicki and Bryan Hart, Willie and Anita Moreno, Scott Powles, Jeff and Nicole Hatley, Ashley Shippey, Grant Moreno, and Zachary Shippey; great grandchildren, Nathan and Janine Moreno, Natalie Hart, and Jackson Hatley, and numerous brother and sister in laws and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Sunday Moreno and her forever cherished son in law, Sherman Powles. Your tired body has been put to rest, but your song lives on in our hearts: rest in peace until we meet again. A visitation and funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., on Monday, March 4, at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville. Donations may be made to Yolo Hospice, 1909 Golden Gate Court Suite A, Davis, CA 95618 or The Stan Foster Memorial Golf Tournament supporting local cancer patients, at PO Box 5182 Vacaville, CA 95696-5182.
