Obituary for Joseph D. Parsons
Born Aug. 18, 1936, in Belfast, Maine, to Phil and Dorothy Davis Parsons. Died at home, at the age of 78, on Feb. 17, after a long illness. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Joe was survived by wife of 55 years, Shirley Kleinen Parsons; children, Susan Davis of Rocklin, Ryan (Michele) Parsons of Walnut Creek, former son-in-law, Mike Davis; grandchildren, Kelsey Davis, Katelyn and Bradley Parsons; brothers, Jim (Sharon ) of Salinas, John (Marian) of Longmont, CO; sister-in-law, Carol (Dave) Johnson of Dixon; nieces, Karen Johnson, Jenn Prunty, and Dr. Paige Parsons; and nephews, Jeff Johnson, Bret Parsons and Tal Parsons. Member of Maine and California National Guard for eight years. Graduate of Hampden Academy in Hampden, Maine, Class of 1954. He attended UCD. Joe was a 40 year resident of Dixon. He enjoyed 34 years working for PG&E as a Gas Field Engineer and retired in 1993. He was a long time member of Early Day Gas Engine Tractor Association - Branch 13, volunteer at the Heidrick Ag History Center and PG&E Reddy Rovers RV Club. He was a past President of the Dixon Lions Club. There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m., at The Old Veterans Hall, 231 N. First St., in Dixon, CA.
