Obituary for Jose Gonzalo Casillas
Jose Gonzalo Casillas, resident of Vacaville born Jan. 10, 1923, in Eagle Pass, Texas passed away peacefully on Jan. 16. He was 88 years old, a devout Catholic Secular Franciscan for 33 years, and served in the United States Army during WWII. After obtaining his chemical engineering degree in Mexico, City and always adhering to strict work ethics in both countries, he retired from his job for the City of Vacaville in 1991, but continued to serve the Hispanic community by volunteering translation and income tax return assistance.He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Feliciana Garcia; sons and daughters, Angelina, Adriana, Jose Luis, Ana, Eduardo, Mario, Francisco, Ramon and Carlos Casillas-Damm; Larisa, Yura, Ines and Juiana Casillas-Hernandez; and Mirella, Irma, Noel and Wilbert Vargas-Garcia; 44 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Dodlores, Mario, Cesar, Baudilia and Concepcion Casillas-Reyes, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jose C. Casillas and Baudilia Reyes, and brother Roberto and Eduardo. A visitation will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial with Father Eugene Lopez officiating will be held on Friday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church, 350 Stinson Ave. Burial will be in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaultpas Mexico.
