Obituary for John R. Lopez
John R. Lopez 84, of Vacaville, passed away peacefully at his home on Dec 9. He was born on Sept. 16, 1927 in Spain and came to America with his family when he was 3 years old. Entering the United States through Ellis Island in New York, the family moved to Vacaville Ca. John is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Rose; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Curtis Balcom; son and daughter-in-law, David and Juanita Lopez; grandchildren, Andrew and Bonnie Pippin, Robert and Danielle Pippin, David Lopez and Richard Lopez; great-grandchildren, Kasaundra, Chelsea, Chance, AJ, Chad, Dustin, and Chase; sisters and brother-in-law Millie Williams, Izzie and Joe Munoz. He also leaves behind many nephews and nieces. Preceding him in death were his parents Jose and Celestina Lopez and his sister Lucille. He attended Vacaville High School where he played Football and Basketball. He received an Honorable Discharged from the Army in 1947, where he was stationed in the Philippines during WW2. He was decorated with the WW2 Victory Medal and Philippine Independence Ribbon. He worked for the Frank Douglas Garage as a Mechanic, then at the family Business the “Vacaville Nursery” (established by his father in 1947). John and Rose were married and also started their own Business “Rose Florist” in the Nursery. In 1962 the Flower Shop was moved to Main Street where it still is till this day. In 1976 they expanded their business to a second Location in Fairfield. He loved and adored his family. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He could build anything out of wood.

Cemetery:
He will be laid to rest at Fairmont Memorial Park, Union Ave, Fairfield.

Visitation:
Rosary will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 7 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel.

Service:
A Catholic Prayer Service will be on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m. at St Mary's Catholic Church.
