Obituary for John 'Jack' Charles Kelch
John “Jack” Charles Kelch, 60, of Vacaville, California, died Friday, September 21, 2012 after a valiant battle against cancer. Jack was born in Oceanside, California, May 21, 1952 to Mary and Lawrence Kelch. He attended Elementary and High School in Garden Grove, California and graduated from CSU Fullerton with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. In 1974, Jack joined the Army and was stationed in Germany. In 1977, he began working for the US Postal Service in Fountain Valley California and transferred to Vacaville in 1984. Jack loved spending his time playing sports especially basketball and baseball. He enjoyed the many years he played softball in Vacaville. Jack was married to Gayle in 1991 and together they had many adventures traveling throughout the U.S. and Europe. Gayle and Jack have been active members of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church where they have made many friends, especially at the morning service. Jack is survived by his wife Gayle, his brothers Thomas and Joseph, his sister Rose and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Joseph Kelch and his mother, Mary Josephine Kelch. Friends are invited to a memorial service, officiated by Rev. Robert “Bob” Willse, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 580 Trinity Drive, Vacaville, CA on Saturday, September 29 at 4:30 pm with reception to follow. Contributions in memory of Jack may be made to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
