Obituary for John F. Dean
John F. Dean, 96, died in his sleep on Monday, February 20, 2012, in Palo Alto. Mr. Dean was born in East Peoria IL, worked at Armour & Company in Peoria IL before WWII, and then again after the War in Peoria, Chicago, San Francisco, and Dixon until retirement. He served in the Marine Corps from 1941-1945 in the Pacific. He met his wife of over 60 years, Lavina Post, after the War. Mr. Dean is survived by his daughter Diana Laurent and son-in-law Lew Laurent of Palo Alto, his grandson Michael Laurent of Palo Alto, his sister Bee Myers of Aurora IL, and 10 nephews and nieces in Illinois, Iowa, Georgia and Colorado. He was preceded in death by his wife Lavina, his brother Henry, and his sisters Leota and Vi. Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m., Mar 16, 2012, at the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon, followed by burial with military honors at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. In keeping with his love of classical music, donations can be made to Stanford University with a memo on the check 'Bing Concert Hall Instrument Fund in honor of John F.
