Obituary for John Edward 'Jack' Morris
John Edward Jack Morris died Wednesday February 10, 2010 at Vaca Valley Hospital with family at his side. He was 90 years old. Jack was born October 24, 1919 in San Francisco to Edward and Esther (Frietzche) Morris. He grew up on a ranch in Agua Caliente near Sonoma, graduating from Sonoma High School and Santa Rosa Junior College. He received a bachelors degree in Engineering from Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy in New York. Jack served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II, sailing on Liberty and Victory ships throughout the Pacific. He worked for the State of California for 34 years, retiring in 1979 as chief engineer at the CMF in Vacaville. Jack and his wife, Dot, made Vacaville their home for 53 years. They enjoyed many happy years of retirement, traveling throughout the U.S. in their RV, visiting with family and friends.Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dorothy (Breen) Morris; His daughters Sandy Cintas and her husband Joe of Vacaville and Pati Blickenderfer and her husband Bob of Massillon, Ohio; and son Ed Morris and his wife Debi of Woodland; Grandchildren Rick and Mike Cintas of Vacaville; Gina Blickenderfer of Massillon Ohio, Erin Morris of Narragansett, RI and Jeff Morris of Springfield Oregon; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; Brother Bill Morris of Santa Rosa and sister-in-law Marilyn Morris of Los Molinos; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Anita of Sacramento, brother Jim of Los Molinos and by his Grandson John Cintas of Vacaville.Friends and family are welcome to a visitation on Wednesday February 17 from 5 to 7 pm at McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville. Funeral Service will be at 1 pm on Thursday February 18 at McCune Chapel with Reverend Daniel Paul officiating. Burial will follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Vacaville Fire Departments Paramedic Fund.
