Obituary for John Brendan Tiernan-Lang
Brendan was Born July 22, 1960 in San Juan, Puerto Rico and passed away on Jan. 11, 2012 in Albuquerque, N. M. Brendan is survived by parents, Sheila and J. Harry Tiernan, III, foster parents Grant and Judy Sydow, sisters Elizabeth, Deirdre, Kathleen, and Bridget (Nathan) and brother Michael, wife Sharon, sons Ethan and Eamon, daughters, Kathleen, Colleen (Jordan), and Erin. Preceded in death by brother Edward. Brendan was a very active Boys Town Alumnus (Class of ’79). He served his country as an Air Force officer for 24 years. His tours included Egypt, Somalia, and Saudi Arabia. He loved to travel, and cook meals from many different cultures for friends and family. He was an avid listener of NPR, classical music, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Brendan was also a big advocate for children’s rights. He was a very generous father and husband. A viewing will take place at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home, 569 N. First St., Dixon Thursday, Jan. 19, from 5 - 8 p.m. with the rosary at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church in Dixon.
