Obituary for Joel Pedersen
Dr. Joel L. Pedersen (December 13, 1977 - December 17, 2018)
No man’s life can be summed up in a few words, and this is especially the case for Dr. Joel L. Pedersen, who died at home unexpectedly on December 17, 2018. Joel was a remarkable, vivid human being. He will be remembered as a loving family man, a ride-or-die friend, a respected and compassionate dental anesthesiologist, and a loyal Dodgers fan (Joel assured us, as he does annually, that next season will be their year!!!).
Joel leaves behind his high school sweetheart, fellow binge watching, video-game playing partner in crime, Carrie. In addition, he will be dearly missed by his son Will (whose prodigious video game skills and sarcastic humor do his father proud), his daughter Cait (whose bravery and love of adventure made her the first child Joel taught to ski), and his son Jack (whose quick reflexes and love of competition encouraged Joel to share his passion for baseball). In addition, Joel predeceases his parents Terrill and Judith Pedersen; his sister Tara Pedersen and her wife Pamela Nye; his sister Sara Crepaux, her husband Jorden Crepaux, and their daughters Olive and Elle. Joel also leaves behind a large extended family and a group of friends who enriched his life daily.
The world is a diminished place for each of us without Joel, and we will miss him for the rest of our lives. We take only the smallest consolation in knowing that Joel will now, finally be able to test the truth of his theory (which he has held since his teenage years) that Tupac Shakur faked his own death.
May your journey continue, Joel, and may it be as stunning as your life here on earth!
A memorial will be held at 1pm on Sunday, December 30th at McCune Garden Chapel (212 Main Street, Vacaville, CA, 95688). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joel’s children’s college fund. Please make checks payable to American Funds (in the memo section, feel free to add: “529 Plan for William Pedersen”). There will be a check donation box at the memorial service.
