Jimmy Donald (DON) Webb, 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home, on March 16, 2023, soon after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that had metastasized to his liver. He was born on June 30,1936, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He left Oklahoma with his parents, Ivan F. & Jewel Price Webb & his older brother, Howard, when he was 10 months old to relocate to California.
The family was lured here by promises of earning money picking fruit.They did this in the Yuba City area. After his father became employed at Mare Island, the family settled in Vacaville in 1941. Don started school in Vacaville, graduating from Vacaville High in 1954.
In 1955, Don married his high school sweetheart, Dixie Fisher, and they had three children: Katherine Webb Calhoon of Florida, Kelli Webb Macha of Sutherlin, Oregon & James D. Webb of Vacaville. Don & Dixie were married for over 25 years. Don is also survived by his son-in-law, Dale Macha & daughter-in-law, Kathy Webb; grandchildren & great grandchildren Stacey Webb, her fiancé Matt Brady & their children Carson & Chase of Sacramento; Christopher Webb & his wife Amber & their children Hudson, Amelia & Logan of Hill AFB, Utah; Nick Macha & his wife Micayla & her daughter, Ashlynn of Junction City, Oregon; and Joel Macha of Portland, Oregon. Don is survived by his significant other of almost 30 years, Carol Schneider Bourgerie of Vacaville. Besides his parents & brother, he was predeceased by his son-in-law Steven Calhoon.
Don lived in Sacramento while working for Techni-Color for several years before returning to Vacaville with his family in order to take over his father's business (Webb's Welding & Steel Manufacturing) when Ivan's health started to decline. Don was very proud of the fact that his son, Jim, is now the third generation to run Webb's Welding.
Over the years Don participated in many groups and organizations. He was the MC for the United Way Telethon; Past President of Kiwanis, flew his plane for the Solano County Sheriff's Department doing search & rescue/drug busts; Past Commander of the Western States Sheriff's Air Squadron & Past Commander for the Sheriff's Air Squadron of Solano County; Commodore of Ox Bow Yacht Club; member of the Northern California Power Cruiser Association; the San Joaquin Delta Power Squadron & instructor for their safe boating classes; member of the International Order of the Blue Gavel & he belonged to the SPEBSQSA (barbershop quartet) and he sang in many stage productions. Don married many couples through his connection to the Universal Life Church.
Don was currently a member of the Quiet Birdmen and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows where he held many positions including Grand Guardian/Grand Lodge.
Visitation will be at McCune Garden Chapel (212 Main St., Vacaville) on Monday, March 27, from 5-8 p.m. Services will also be at McCune on Tuesday, March 28, at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery at 522 Elmira Road, Vacaville.
