Obituary for Jewel 'Judy' Abrew
Jewel “Judy” Abrew March 14, 1924 – January 19-2012 Judy was born in Jackson County Arkansas on Mar. 14, 1924 to Claude and Retha Hurley. She was the oldest of seven children. She lived a very busy home life and started her own family in 1941, eventually moving to Vacaville in 1950. Her first job in Vacaville was at the Basic Vegetable Company. After a period of time she and her husband Tony Abrew ran the Skylane Restaurant on old Hwy. 40. After several years she ran the BlueBird Café on Main Street. After leaving the restaurant business she worked at Bryants Pharmacy which is now Vacaville Music. Judy retired due to health reasons but stayed active with family, friends and community. She left a lasting, loving impression on the many people she touched in her life. She is survived by her daughter Claudine (h.Guy), sisters Jean, Mae (h.Bill), Grandchildren, Eddie (w.Pam), Jody Sr., Alissa (h.Kurt), Darlene, Tony, Dawn, Carrie, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by husband Tony, son Don Ivie, brothers Claude, Ken and sisters Susie and Mary. A visitation will be Thursday January 26 from 4 to 7 PM at McCune Garden Chapel 212 Main Street Vacaville Ca. Funeral service Friday January 27 at 10 AM followed by burial at Vacaville Elmira Cemetary with a reception following.
