Obituary for Jesse Thomas
Mr. Jesse Thomas passed away at age 81 on June 6th after a sudden illness. He was born in Darlington, South Carolina as the only child to Louise Hunter Thomas and Leroy Thomas. He loved music and sang and played the piano in numerous bands and talent shows from an early age. Mr. Thomas enjoyed the McBride Senior Center and enjoyed participating in activities there. His last talent show was in the 2007 Senior Idol competition with a stirring rendition of Route 66. He joined the Army Air Corp and retired from the USAF after 23 years. He married Elsie Mae Arthur in 1949 and enjoyed fifty-five years of marriage prior to her death in 2004. Jesse and Elsie had three childrenJacqueline Fields, Darrell Thomas who preceded him in death, and Randolph Thomas. In addition to Jackie and Randy, Jesse is survived by his son-in-law Ron Fields, sisters-in-law Azalee Smith and Carrie Fleming, grand children Jabari, Chris, and Lanette, eight great-grand children, and numerous loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Viewing will be at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St, Vacaville from 1 to 4 PM, Sunday, June 13th with a Funeral service at Covenant Community Church, 3870 Alamo Drive, Vacaville on Monday June 14th at 11:30. Burial will follow at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
