Obituary for Jennie Angelina Bucedi
Jennie Bucedi passed away peacefully on May 4, 2018 at the age of 81. Jennie was born to Mario and Mary Lanza on April 20, 1937 in Berkeley, California. She grew up in Berkeley and graduated from Berkeley High School in 1955. Jennie attended U.C. Berkeley and through a mutual introduction she met her devoted husband of 61 years, Joseph Bucedi. Jennie raised her family in San Lorenzo where she worked at Mervyn’s as a buyer in Women’s Sports Clothing. She also worked for the Defense Logistics Agency in the department of Personnel while living in Torrance, California. She then went to Fremont where she worked for the Air Force as a Contract Specialist and retired in Vacaville, California. Jennie has always been of strong faith. Jennie dedicated 30 years to hospital ministry at Alta Bates in Berkeley, John Muir in Oakland, and Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville. She provided communion to the homebound through St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vacaville. Her work in the church, cooking Italian food for her family, discussion current events, keeping up with bay area sports, and shopping, were her biggest joys in life. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Sonozaro; sister Mary VanKamp; grandson, Jason Bucedi; and daughter-in-law Patricia Bucedi. Jennie is survived by her husband, Joseph Bucedi; son Mark Bucedi, both of Vacaville. Son Michael Bucedi and daughter-in-law Laura Bucedi of San Lorenzo; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation to be held on Monday, May 14th, 5:00-8:00pm with rosary at 7:00pm at McCune Garden Chapel. Funeral mass to be held on Tuesday, May 15th at 10:30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery immediately follows service.
