Obituary for Jeannete Frances Rivas
Jeannette Frances Rivas, 82, passed away Dec. 8, in Vacaville, of natural causes. Jeannette was born Jan. 10, 1930 in Augusta, Kansas. Jeannette Frances Kuhns grew up in Pennsylvania, before trekking across the country to the California coast, where she eventu1ally met her devoted husband. She was a loving wife and mother, a caring grandmother and great-grandmother, a cherished sister, and a worthy friend to all who were blessed to make her acquaintance. She was a talented musician who treasured playing the piano and singing hymns with her family. She had a special bond with nature and a passion for the California wilderness, from the beaches of Santa Barbara to the mountains of Upper Ojai. She possessed a unique wisdom that was immortalized through the stories that she shared. She was a kind soul who loved Father God, and will be missed dearly by her loved ones. Her body may be out of grasp, but her spirit isn’t far. Preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Frances Kuhns, and granddaughter, Emily. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Joe Rivas; daughters and sons-in-law, Joanna Frank, Janine and Tom Hatton, Jerilynn and Rick Harris; sons and daughters-in-law, John Rivas, Joe and Rita Rivas and Jim Rivas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean Faught and Roger Maine and Janice and Dick Wells; 14 grandchildren, Rhiannon, Deirdre, Clinton, Johnny, Emily, Taleena, Joe P., Jenna, Jacob, Melissa, Ashley, Mariah, Cole, Savannah; 15 great grandchildren, Tyler, Danielle, Emily, Brielle, Aiden, Jarett, Anthony, Nathan, Seth, Autumn, Elias, Jadah, Elise, Christen, and Maxwell.
Visitation: Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m., at McCune Garden Chapel
Service: Graveside service and burial will be held Friday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m., at Sacramento Valley Cemetery, with Pastor Su Schlagel officiating.
