Obituary for Jeanette Scarfuto
Jeanette, 82, June 8, 1936 – October 6, 2018. Jeanette was born in Brooklyn, NY and proud of it. More recently, she was a long-time resident of Santa Rosa and Windsor, and spent her last year residing in Vacaville, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Marian DeGregory. She is survived by her brother James Scarfuto (Jan), her children Denise Fracchia (Robert), Robert M. Ruiz, and Rosalinda Ruiz, and her grandchildren Elena Fracchia and John Anthony Fracchia (Kristin).

She was a passionate reader with a strong belief in education and public libraries, and she loved to paint and sketch. One of her proudest moments was painting part of the mural at Pohley Market in Windsor. She volunteered for the Sonoma County Film Office taking photos around the county and at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Windsor helping with the bulletin ads. She is best remembered in Vacaville as the gypsy fortuneteller at the Onion Dance.

She was a proud, full-blooded Italian and she loved to cook. Her spaghetti sauce was an heirloom recipe, passed down from her mother, and her biscotti had no rival. She loved to garden, going to the beach, Hershey’s chocolate and good coffee. She appreciated different cultures and foods, and passed that passion on to her children. She lived her life with courage and adventure, and loved to meet new people.

Donations may be made in her name to the Sonoma County Public Library Foundation.
