Obituary for Janet Margaret Lynch
Janet Margaret Lynch passed peacefully on July 17th at age 78. She was at home with family and friends close by. Janet was born in Wisconsin and moved to Redondo Beach, California when she was 8 years old. After graduation from Aviation High School, she moved to San Francisco to attend San Francisco State University. She worked at Macy’s in Union Square to finance college. While working at Macy’s Janet met Jim Lynch, also a student who was working part time at a downtown parking garage. Their mutual attraction intensified over a dispute about parking fees. This dispute turned into a relationship that led to a 53-year marriage. Jim and Janet married in 1967 in a favorite little church in Fairfax, California. They raised three children in the East Bay before they moved to a quiet cul-de-sac in Vacaville in 1983. While there they met neighbors and others who became lifelong friends. Janet was always involved in her children’s schools. She was active in the Parents Teachers Association, serving as president of local chapters, culminating her leadership efforts by serving as District President in 1989. She remained active in PTA even after their children completed their education. Janet is survived by her husband Jim and their three children and a grandson: Joe and his wife Joanie, their son Sean of Woodland, CA; Jennifer of Vallejo, CA; and John of Vacaville. Janet is predeceased by her parents Bill and Harriet Chaney and her beloved brother Douglas Chaney, a decorated war hero who was Killed-In-Action In Vietnam. In lieu of flowers, please donate your time and resources to local schools.
