Obituary for Janet Irene 'Jan' Bissell
This is not your ordinary obituary as Janet was nothing but ordinary. To know her was to love her, she touched the lives of everyone she met. She had a heart of gold and was the most unselfish person. Sadly Janet was called home on Jan. 30, after a long and hard fought battle with Parkinson's Disease. Janet was born in Pacific Grove, Calif. Janet is preceded in death by her loving parents, Charles M. and Maude A. Robinson, Sr. She was the youngest of her siblings, Charles M. Robinson, Jr. and Nancy Rebber. Janet left home as a minor to travel to Tokyo, Japan to work for the federal government. Where she met her then husband Claude R. Bissell (Buzz). Janet and Buzz moved back to California and laid down roots in Vacaville. Janet worked and retired from Travis Air Force Base. She has been a resident of Vacaville for 50 plus years. She is also preceded in death by her boyfriend of 20 plus years, Clifford Rayborn. Janet was known for her quick wit jokes and a smile that could light up the room. Her favorite pass times were hitting up any casino, stopping at garage sales and flea markets as she was an avid antique collector. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, listening to music and watching the Kings, SF Giants and 49er's. She is survived by her beloved nieces, Kathy Gieck of Rocklin, CA, Kelley O'Callaghan of Valrico, FL and Mary Shull of El Dorado Hills, CA. She was also a great aunt to Rhonda Robinson of Rocklin, CA, Cori O'Callaghan of Jacksonville, FL, Mathew and Nick O'Callaghan of Valrico, FL and her great niece that was named after her, Jennifer 'Janet 'Martin, 'JJ' of Rocklin, CA. Per her wishes there will be no service. However, please raise a glass of white zinfandel in her honor and toast the good times you had with her. Our lives will never be the same without her. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Parkinson Foundation or your local animal shelter, her love for animals was amazing, or a trip to your local casino in her honor.
