Obituary for James Richard Pescosolido M.D.
Jim Pescosolido, 50, of Vacaville, died in his home Jan. 17. Jim was born in Norwood, MA, and grew up on Cape Cod, attending Tabor Academy. He earned an AFROTC scholarship and completed his Biology/Pre Med studies at the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA. After his commissioning, he resided in the DC area where he earned his MD at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Initially a flight surgeon, he later went on to specialize in Psychiatry at Wright State University. Jim took great pleasure and pride in his military service and it was with bittersweet emotions that he separated from active duty while stationed at Travis AFB in 2001. He worked locally in private practice in psychiatry up until his death. Jim was an exceptionally intelligent and caring individual. His passing leaves an immense hole in the lives of his family, patients and friends. Jim is survived by his wife of 15 years, Ellen; his son, Michael Pescosolido of Vallejo; his parents, Jo and Richard Pescosolido, and sister, Gina Pescosolido of Berea, KY; brother, Steve, his wife, Karen, and their three daughters, Kristina, Julie and Rachel and their families in KY. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Kent Shultz and nephew, Bryan Shultz of Schenectady, NY, and mother-in-law, Wylan Shultz of Goshen, IN. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McCune Garden Chapel with the funeral service at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI), P.O. Box 3334, Fairfield 94533, in Jim's name.
