Obituary for Jack Montgomery King
Jack M. King was born in Reno Nevada on May 9th, 1962 and passed, peacefully at home on October 30th, after a brief illness that he battled heroically.
Jack was raised by his wonderful mother, Rose King and grew up in Fairfield Ca. with his two brothers Sam and Steve. Growing up in the "bird streets, “The Three Kings" of Fairfield were well known and well liked. They spent their youth riding dirt bikes in the neighborhood, hunting in the sloughs or riding paper routes to earn money for the pool hall.
Jack attended Fairfield High School and later graduated from Universal Technical Institute in Arizona and enjoyed a long career as a mechanic. Jack was an especially hard worker. He worked as a fleet mechanic for Solano County and then later for AT&T. For many years, Jack would work half a day at the Cherry Pit in Vacaville and then head to his full-time fleet job at AT&T where he would work swing shifts, 6 days a week.
Second only to Jack's love of family was his sobriety. Jack's path in life took him on a journey that made him the man he was and will always be remembered by his family and his numerous friends.
Jack would have celebrated 23 years of sobriety this month. He built life-long friendships and memories with his recovery family. He enjoyed a wide range of activities in recovery from motorcycle rides to recovery birthdays to conventions and camp outs. Jack's recovery was very important to him and he sought to support and help others who were struggling. Jack was loved and adored by so many in his recovery family as he loved and adored them.
A lifelong outdoor enthusiast, Jack loved hunting, motorcycles and rodeos. In fact, he had a dream of wanting to be a cowboy. He was a passionate hunter who hunted all over the western United States chasing mule deer and dink bucks. He also enjoyed hunting ducks and geese with his uncle Chuck in Nevada.
Jack was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his son Caison, his granddaughter Rylie and he was recently blessed to meet his newborn granddaughter Hudson. Taking his step-daughter Scarlett under his wing was something that Jack really cherished and he was so grateful to have Kara as his wife.
He made numerous memorable trips to Disneyland with the kids and never missed an opportunity to spend holidays, birthdays or any other excuse to enjoy the company and love of his family.
Jack was a fan of most sports but especially he loved the Miami Dolphins and the Oakland A's. He enjoyed a good baseball game even if his team wasn't playing.
He had a passion for riding his motorcycle and hanging with the boys or as he would say, his brothers.
Jack is survived by his mother, Rose King, his wife Kara, his son Caison (Taylor) King, step-daughter Scarlett, granddaughters Rylie Grace and Hudson Emmi King, Brothers Sam and Steve (Gail) King , nieces Halie and Lacee King and nephew Payton King. Jack was preceded in death by his father Jack M. King on August 9,1968.
