Obituary for Isabel M. Prieto
Isabel passed away on Monday at the age of 97. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will always be remembered for her warmth and her quiet grace. Isabel was born in Sorbas, Spain. As a young woman, she moved to Barcelona, where she met her beloved husband of 61 years, Francisco. The two were married in 1944 and welcomed their only daughter, Maribel, three years later. In 1956, Isabel and her family proudly immigrated to the United States, settling first in Winters, then in Vacaville in 1958, where she lived the remainder of her life. She worked for 30 years at Basic Vegetable Products with her husband. Isabel’s greatest joy was caring for her family, including her grandson and great grandchildren. Isabel is survived by her daughter, Maribel Sunderman (Walter) of Vacaville; grandson Paul Sunderman (Laurel) and great grandchildren Adam and Lizzie of Carmichael; as well as Kim Loney, Chris Talbot, and Cyndi Stanfield, whom she loved like granddaughters, and their families. Family and friends are invited to a Rosary at McCune Garden Chapel on Thursday, Sep. 28, 2017 at 7 p.m. and a memorial Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vacaville on Friday, Sep. 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield, CA.
