Obituary for Inez Stevens
Inez R. Garnett Stevens was born in San Francisco, CA, on September 13, 1936 to proud parents of Randolph F. and Izetta M. Garnett. She was the third of eight children.
She was educated in the San Francisco Unified School District and graduated from Galileo High School in 1953. She attended San Francisco City College.
Inez married Levi Stevens on March 1, 1975. They relocated from Oakland, CA, to Suisun City, CA. She began her career as a nurse’s aide at U.C. Medical Center and San Francisco General Hospital. She started working for the U.S. Postal Service in 1962 and retired on disability in 1992. Inez loved reading a variety of novels and attending gatherings with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, both domestically and internationally, in her younger years.
Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Levi Stevens; son Raymond Washington; parents, Randolph F. and Izetta M. Garnett; brothers, Randolph E. (Randy), Clarence (Jamie), and Michael Garnett; sisters Augustine F. Hamilton, Violet Osborne; and granddaughter Kimberly Washington.
Inez’s journey ended February 21, 2018. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving son Reni K. Washington of Suisun City, CA; step-childran, Victor L. Stevens of Suisun City, CA and Craig Stevens of Berkeley, CA, Connie M. Stevens of Antioch, CA; two sisters, Ida Garnett (Tommy Bareal) of San Francisco, CA and Suzy Kennedy of Sacramento, CA; brothers-in-law, Clarence Hamilton of Fairfield, CA and Robert Osborne of San Francisco, CA; sister-in-law Thelma L. Garnett of Oakland, CA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and many cherished relatives and friends.
