It is with profound heartbreak that we announce the passing of Homer Edward Titus, 78, of Winters, on July 12, 2025.
Homer was born on January 28, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the eldest of seven children and grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his three brothers and three sisters. His parents were Mollie Ruth Titus and Kenneth F. Titus Sr.
In 1966, following the encouragement of a trusted mentor, Homer enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for 20 years. After retiring from the military, he began a second career with United Airlines, working at their Maintenance Operations Building at San Francisco International Airport for 25 years until his retirement in 2013.
Known to many simply as “T,” Homer met the love of his life, Hsiu Chin “Tammy” Titus, in 1970. They married in 1974 and built a life rooted in love and dedication. A passionate reader and Sci-Fi enthusiast, Homer also loved to travel, with Oahu, Hawaii holding a special place in his heart.
He was an involved and caring father who never hesitated to lend a hand at his daughter’s school—chaperoning dances, field trips, and even guest lecturing in class. He was a beloved husband, devoted father, and a proud grandfather to his sole grandson.
Homer was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth F. Titus, Sr.; his mother, Mollie R. Titus; his sister, Sandra Sumler; and brothers Kenneth "Buzzie" Titus Jr. and Robert Titus.
Homer is survived by his wife, Hsiu Chin Titus; daughter, Christina Titus-Shurnas (Jason Shurnas); grandson, Lincoln T. Shurnas; sisters Kay (Antonio) McCants and Marlene Titus-Smith; brother William "Bill" Titus; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.
He will be interred with honors at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California, on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
