Obituary for Hermon Austin
Hermon Austin was born in Coalgate, OK July 9, 1935 & passed away in Dixon, CA, March 18, 2016 at the age of 80 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Hermon was the youngest son of William (Asher) & Lenora Austin. He had 2 brothers & 3 sisters. The family moved to California from Oklahoma when he was about 6 & he went to high school in Hilmar, CA.
Hermon married his wife Ruth Hays (deceased) in 1953 in the Dixon United Methodist Church & they had 2 daughters, Sandy & Linda both who were married there as well. He had a close relationship with his only grandson Sean Scott. Ruth always liked to refer to him as "Her Hermie".
Hermon was a carpet & linoleum layer for Chandler's Furniture of Vacaville for over 30 years. He loved to camp, hunt & fish & took many trips with family & friends. In his spare time enjoyed working on wood projects & fixing things. Music was something he always loved & you would often catch him whistling, humming or singing.
He always liked to tease & joke with friends & family. A favorite past time was working in his yard & he would liked to blow leaves away for himself & his surrounding neighbors.
Hermon is survived by his daughters, Sandy Scott (Bill), Linda Bologna (Bob), grandson Sean, sister Violet & many nieces & nephews.
