Obituary for Harry H. Schneider
Harry H. SchneiderA memorial services for Harry H. Schneider will be on Wednesday, June 29 at 3:30 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Vern Oestmann officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel. Born Sept. 28, 1918 in Giddings, Texas, he lived in Vacaville for 53 years. In World War II he served as a Commissioned Officer in the US Army assigned to Supreme Headquarters Allied Forces Europe (SHAFE) as Depot Commander and Staff Logistics Officer. He retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel with more than 26 years of service.In the Korean war he served in a staff position. He later served as Director of Procurement and Commercial Airlift Contract Operations in the Western Transport Air Force and 22nd Air Force, Military Airlift Command during the period of January 1952 through May 1978.Upon retiring from the federal service he formed Schneider Management Services Inc.; served as Vice-Pres Corporate Planning Continental-Pacific Development Corporation, Vice-Pres of Operations & Planning, SEGAM Corporation; served as a Member of and as Chairman of the Vacaville Planning Commission: and as a lay member of the Board of Directors, California-Hawaii-Nevada District, the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod.Col Schneider is survived by his wife Rubye Jay of 69 years of Vacaville; daughter, J Ann and Bruce McEwen of Grand Rapids, Mich.; son, Harry Jr. and Gail Schneider of Seattle, Wash; six grandsons, Henry, Malcolm, Remington and Sebastian Schneider and Michael and Keith and Lindsay McEwen; and one great-granddaughter, Madelyn McEwen.Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 621 South Orchard Ave., Vacaville, CA 95688.
