Obituary for Harold L. "Hal" Bush
Harold L. “Hal” Bush passed away in his home on June 5, 2017 in Vacaville, CA, surrounded by his friends and family, due to complications from multiple myeloma. He was 81. Hal was born on November 14, 1935 in San Francisco, CA to his parents, Leonard and Lorraine. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 1950’s. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Communication and Public Policy in 1959, and in 1964 he obtained his Masters from San Francisco State College. Hal was a teacher and school administrator and, after receiving his Doctorate of Education in 1976 from University of the Pacific, eventually became the Deputy Superintendent of the Vacaville Unified School District. After his retirement in 1999, he continued his love for education, teaching and performing accreditations around the world. He married Diane Juney, his loving wife of 50 years, on March 18, 1967. In addition to Diane, Hal is loved and survived by his sons Ronald (Janice) of Kapaa, HI, Steven (Jeannette) of Woodland Hills, CA, Christopher (Rachel Smith) of Chapel Hill, NC. Hal also remained close with his siblings James (Sally), William (Irma), Doris (Frank). He was a loving grandfather to Kailee, Duke, Laulea and Valentina. A memorial mass, followed by a reception, will take place on June 14 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vacaville, CA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Hal’s life. The burial will be a military ceremony on June 21 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
