Obituary for Griffin Bailey
Long time Solano County resident Griffin Bailey passed away peacefully on August 30, 2016 at Vaca Valley Hospital. He was 82 year old. Griffin Bailey was born on May 13, 1934 in Plainfield New Jersey. He enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from the Air Force after 24 years of service. He then began his second career at Anheuser Busch Brewery where he worked for 17 years. Mr. Bailey was a community activist and held the distinction of being the founding president of the Tri-Cities NAACP. Mr. Bailey leaves to mourn is passing his loving and devoted wife of 25 years Ruth Bailey his children Khadijah Bailey, Griffin Bailey, Jr. (Rhonda), Lafayette Bailey (Adrian), Tonya Stroud Hauert (Robert), Melissa Stroud, Joshua Best, Sister; Marian Knight, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives. He was predeceased by his sister Connie Alexander Guinn and granddaughter Anissa Grimes. The Quiet Hour for Mr Bailey will be held on Wednesday, 9/7 from 5pm - 8pm. Celebration of Life is scheduled for Thursday 9/8 at 11:00AM both at McCune Garden Chapel Funeral 212 Main Street, Vacaville, CA. Donations in his memory may be made to the National Kidney Disease Foundation.
