Obituary for Gloria Jean Niccoli
Gloria Niccoli passed away on Monday, November 30, 2021 after fighting bravely against a rare form of cancer for over 15 months. Gloria was the most positive and giving person and was just a beautiful soul.
Gloria was born to Milo Celli and Stefane D’Amato in San Francisco on August 12, 1950. She grew up in a typical Italian family and was fiercely proud of her Sicilian heritage. She had many ties to North Beach. Gloria attended various grammar schools in San Francisco and graduated from St. Paul's High School in 1968. Gloria met her husband, Joe, at a party for a friend leaving to serve in Vietnam. She and Joe married on February 23, 1969 at Saints Peter and Paul Church in North Beach. Soon after, Joe left to serve in Greenland for the United States Air Force. Gloria and Joe lived all over the United States and Europe during Joe’s 23-year career in the Air Force. Gloria worked in the banking industry for many years. She ultimately worked for Travis Credit Union for over 30 years in a number of capacities including Branch Manager and Card Services before retiring in 2013.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Joe; and was the mother of Janice and Joe Jr. (Susan.) She had four grandsons that she spoiled rotten, Dominic (Lindsay), Brandon (Jessica), Alex and Jacob. Given four grandsons, Gloria spent a lot of time at the basketball gym and the soccer and baseball fields. Go Vikes!!! Gloria was also blessed with two great grandsons, Kaeden and Kenzo. Gloria’s one wish was to see her first great granddaughter, Isabel, being born, but she passed before hand. Finally, a girl to spoil with dresses, dolls, and jewelry. She loved being GiGi. Janice always made sure that Gloria was able to spend time with Kaeden and Kenzo during her final months. She loved both of those boys so much and was always so grateful that Janice made sure she had quality time with them. She treasured the “GiGi” rock that Kaeden painted for her. Gloria is also survived by two brothers that she loved greatly Al (Karen) and Frank (Parlene.) She is also survived by her brother-in-law Frank (Chris) that she always had a soft spot in her heart for.
Gloria’s other two passions were traveling and golf. She traveled all over Europe, her favorite place being Italy. One of her favorite trips was when Joe Jr. and Susan surprised her in a hotel lobby in Rome. One of her best trips ever. Gloria was also an avid cruiser. She and Joe sailed on over 55 cruises. She loved being dressed to the nines and enjoying a Cosmo before dinner. Gloria’s other passion was golf. That was her happy place. She loved Cypress Lakes and played there often with Joe or her Tuesday and Thursday Women’s groups. She loved teeing it up with the ladies. Her proudest golf moment was a hole in one on number 11 at Cypress Lakes. She would tell that story to anyone who would listen, especially since Joe still doesn’t have a hole in one.
Friends and family are invited for a visitation on Monday, December 6, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main Street, Vacaville. Burial will be at a later date at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
