Obituary for Frank Edward Koehler
Frank Edward Koehler, 81, of Vacaville, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, at his home in Vacaville. He was born Nov. 30, 1928, in San Francisco but was raised in Yerington, N V. Frank attended San Jose State University, where he earned his A.B. degree in Education with a minor in Art . While there he met his future bride, Regina Cecelia Smith. Frank taught school for 26 years. He spent 21 years teaching elementary and middle school in the Dixon Unified School District before retiring in 1983.Frank loved working with his hands and exploring the natural world. He was an avid builder, and built the family home almost single-handedly. He loved to garden, and he loved living in the country with his family. He will also be remembered fondly by many students of CA Jacobs Middle School in Dixon, where he taught industrial arts.Frank is survived by his wife of 55 years, Regina, son and daughter-in-law, Mark Koehler and Rachel LePell of Alameda ; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Bob Christy of San Antonio, TX, Christine and Jim Eriksen of Edgewater, MD, Kathleen Koehler and Landy Durrosette of Oakdale and Joanne and Joe Garcia of Woodland ; older brother, Jim Koehler of San Carlos , twin brother and sister-in-law Henry and Nancy Koehler of Yerington, NV; 10 grandchildren, Matthew, Justin and Sean Christy of San Antonio, TX, Miles, Arden and Liam Koehler of Alameda, Jimmy and Cori Eriksen of Edgewater, MD and Sydney and Sophia Garcia of Woodland.Visitation will be held today from 5 - 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon. Mass will be held on Friday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon.
