Obituary for Frances J. Miner
Frances J. Miner was called from our midst on Sept. 27, 2014. She was surrounded by her family and friends in her final days. Mrs. Miner was born Jan. 22, 1931 in Fulton, N.Y., and was the middle of three daughters born to Frank and Catherine Cassaniti. She was 83. Frances, known as Fran, Frannie, Mom Fran or Nane, grew up in upstate New York and worked for General Electric as an inspector in her earlier years. She and her husband moved from Fulton, N.Y., to Fairfield, Calif. in 1986. They moved to Port Richey, Fla., in 1990. In 2010, she moved to Dixon, Calif. Mrs. Miner served as a volunteer greeter and escort at the North Bay Hospital in Port Richey, Fla. She was an extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion for St Michaels in Port Richey, Fla., and delivered communion to hospital patients. She was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and volunteered in Port Richey, Fla., and at the food locker at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Dixon, Calif. She was a two-time cancer survivor and volunteered for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life. She was a member of the Young Ladies Institute and a member of the Women of the Moose. There is not a soul that she met that did not come away with her love. She is survived by her children, Frank (Jeanette) Emmons of Dixon, Calif., Brian (Peggy) Miner of Vacaville Calif., Carol (Don) Allen of Fairfield, Calif. and Dean (Kathy) Miner of Dixon Calif.; grandchildren, Christa (Gilbert) Lopez of Dixon, Calif., Carlton (Theresa) Allen of Roseville, Calif., Patrick (Tori) Emmons of Dixon Calif., and Julie and Jeffrey Miner, of Dixon, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Frankie and Drake of Dixon, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Donald H. Miner; and sisters, Verna Palmer and Rose Somers, both of Fulton, N.Y. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m.Friday, Oct 10, 2014 at St Peter’s Catholic Church, 105 S. 2nd St., Dixon, Calif. There will be a reception following in the parish hall, provided by the YLI.
