Obituary for Forrest 'Dutch' Bristow
Our beloved Dutch passed away March 27, 2012, after a long illness with his loving wife Erna by his side. He is now free from pain and in the loving hands of our Lord Jesus Christ. Dutch lived in Solano County and has been living in Vacaville for the past 30 years. Dutch began his career as an Army Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division until 1957. He spent most of his working career as a Superintendent at Mare Island Naval shipyard where he retired in 1990. Dutch enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling around Europe and was an avid history buff. He also enjoyed dancing the night away with his lovely wife Erna. He was a devoted Christian and was a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Vacaville until he became ill. Dutch will be missed by so many whose lives he touched. The family would like to thank all those from First Baptist Church who provided endless support and prayers and who was always there in our time of need. As well as North Bay Hospice and the nurses who provided such tender care in his final days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Charles; as well as two sons, Mark and Steve. Dutch is survived by his wife, Erna; brothers, Robert and Larry Bristow; sons and daughter-in- laws, Peter and Vanessa Lentino, Tony and Marni Lentino; his daughter and son- in- law, Monica and Rob Love, and daughter, Sharon Gaumont; his grandchildren, Justin and Stephanie Stell, Vincent, Kristie, Britney and Lani Lentino, Carmen Carriere and AaronDefelice; and great-grandchildren, McKenzie Ornelas and Nicholas, Adrian and Brandon Carriere; his beloved sister-in-law, Helly Seemann. A celebration of Dutch’s life will be held at First Baptist Church, 1127 Davis St., Vacaville on Friday, March 30 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Gainey officiating. A reception will follow the service.
