Obituary for Ethel Mae Ray
Ethel was born Ethel Mae Stults. She was born July 11, 1931 in Jennings County, Indiana. She was raised on the Purdue University Experimental Farm near the town of Christmas. She was the oldest of 8 children born to Jim and Ellen Stults. She married Eugene Lee Ray on Oct 5, 1947. They moved to California and had 3 sons, Eugene, Floyd, and Pat. Ethel had 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren who were the light of her life. After the death of her husband, Ethel started her career with the civil service at Travis AFB. Ethel retired from Travis with over 41 yrs of service and an attendance record that was second to none. For many years Ethel worked 2 jobs to help support her family. She was raised during the depression and had an incredible work ethic. While working and raising 3 boys she still managed to get her AA Degree from Solano College. Ethel loved to read cookbooks, her horoscope, and go for walks with her best buddy “Rosie” the dachshund. She loved spending time with family. A graveside service will be held Thursday March 29 at 2 pm at Fairmont Memorial Park, 1901 Union Ave., Fairfield.
