On Sunday, September 18, 2022, Erle Douglas Mankin Sr. passed away at age 63 peacefully in his home. Erle was born January 18, 1959 in Cebu City, Philippines to William and Cora Mankin, and he was the youngest of six children. Erle migrated to the United States with his family at age nine. He lived in San Francisco where he attended school and married his first wife, with whom he shared his three sons. After divorcing he met the final love of his life, Raquel Serrano. Erle and Raquel wed on October 17, 1992 and remained married until his passing.
For many years Erle worked in the chemical industry beginning his career at Glidden Paint, followed by Clorox, Catalytica, and finally Genencor. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee, who took pride in his work and accomplishments.
Erle had a passion for dancing and travel, having visited the Far East, Europe, the Caribean and, of course, Las Vegas. He was an avid reader, unsuccessful gambler, diehard San Francisco 49er fan, lover of all foods, and at one point reached the highest level on Candy Crush. Erle enjoyed being surrounded by family and was a proud husband, father and grandfather.
Erle leaves behind his loving wife, Raquel Mankin; three sons, Eric, Erle Jr. and Justin; daughter-in-laws, Li-Ann, Jessica and Melissa; six grandchildren, Sylas, Declan, Lyla, Jack, Braun and Lincoln; mother, Cora; sisters, Lorraine and Veronica; and several nephews and nieces. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service for Erle on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 10:00 AM at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main Street, Vacaville, CA. A Celebration of Life will follow after the service and will be held at Leisure Town HOA Town Hall located at 100 Sequioia Drive, Vacaville, CA.
