Obituary for Elizabeth Winona Uhl
Elizabeth Winona Uhl
April 6, 1924 - August 20, 2021

Elizabeth “Betty” Uhl, 97, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, at Northbay VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville, California. She was born April 6, 1924 in Barton, Maryland, the daughter of the late John and Bessie Foutz. In 1943 she married the love of her life Harry Victor Uhl. They had 3 children before moving to San Mateo, California in 1952 (and then Vacaville, California in 1979) leaving all family and friends behind in West Virginia and Maryland to pursue a different life.

Betty was a homemaker and greatly cherished and enjoyed her family. She was a lifelong Giants baseball fan. She loved her furry family members. As a family we were very blessed to always live nearby and created countless memories. People would comment that she was the best and nicest person they ever met. Betty was kind, compassionate, unselfish, smart and pretty funny. She was not only wife, mom, grandma and great grandma, she was our best friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Victor (a Battle of the Bulge survivor); her son Bob (a Vietnam helicopter pilot and casualty); her grandson Robert; her brothers Buck, Charles, and Bob; her sisters Mary, Norma and Carolyn.

She is survived by her son Victor Uhl of Yreka, California; daughter Jacqueline Brown of Fairfield, California; grandchildren Andrea, Amber, Mike (Sabrina) and Chad (Jenny) and her great grandchildren Autumn, Yvonne, Audrey and Dylan; and her brother Gene.

McCune Garden Chapel is in charge of arrangements. There will be no formal services. If you would, please take a moment to think about what mom and her generation witnessed during the past 100 years or so and the strength and perseverance that helped them make it through.
