Obituary for Elitha 'Josie' Josephine Dubach
Elitha Josephine Dubach Josie of Dixon passed away at age 83 on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011.
Born in Galt, California on June 26th, 1928 to Benjamin, a dairy farmer, and Amelia Stevens, a homemaker.
Josie met her husband, Ernest Ernie Dubach, at a dance they both attended while in high school. They dated and were married Feb. 10th, 1946. Together they had 4 children: Jerry, Jay, Jo and Jan. During this time, Josie was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children, sewing, knitting and canning.
Josie went to work at the Dixon Unified School District as a school bus driver in 1972. She enjoyed the job immensely and the children she came to know while driving them to and from school. She then retired from driving and went onto work in food service at Dixon Unified School District, until she fully retired in 1995.
During this time, Josie was an active participant in The Dixon Boat Club, and The Dixon Moose Lodge. She also enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and travelling with Ernie and friends in their motor home. She also enjoyed trucking for Mistler Bros Trucking during sugar beet season with Ernie. All her grandchildren also remember her sharp mind and the intense daily Word Yahtzee, and domino game between Ernie and her every morning.
Josie had continued to reside in her Dixon home until May of 2009, when she moved to Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center, to reside for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed all the staff and how kind they were to her during that time. She was able to remain active in many of the senior activities, especially bingo and poker. She also enjoyed getting her hair styled and her nails painted.
She is survived by her children: June Dubach (Daughter-In-Law), Jay and Marcia Dubach, Jo Greene, and Jan and Rudy Reid. Her grandchildren: Guy and Terri Dubach, Jerry II and Erica Dubach, Justin and Emily Dubach, Tracy Greene, Randy Reid, Cathy and Chad Pedersen, Malia Reid, Neilani and Rudy Flores. She also had 11 great-grandchildren: Emma, Guy Jr., Max, Maya, Scout, Harlow, Jemma, Nicholas, Seth, Cody, and Maximiliano.
Josie will be reunited in Heaven with her loving husband, Ernest Dubach, and son, Jerry Dubach.
Josie will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her and by those that loved her. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5th, at 1 pm at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon, CA with Pastor Bob Brigham officiating.
