Obituary for Eileen A. McCarthy
Eileen A. McCarthy, of Vacaville, passed away quietly Jan. 6 after a long illness.
She was a native of San Francisco and was employed by Tarantino's and the Spinnaker restaurants for over 42 years, first as secretary to Sen. Gene McAteer. Following his death, she worked as secretary to Bill McDonald who described her as "unique" and "one of the family."
After her retirement, Eileen was an avid reader. Her most special interest, however, was her family and friends. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish where she loved and was loved by many of the parishioners.
Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Nell McCarthy; and brothers, Bill and Larry McCarthy.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Bob Skinner; nephews, Rob Skinner, Dan Skinner (Denise), Gerry Skinner (Kathie), Patrick McCarthy (Sally), and Kevin McCarthy (Elaine); nieces, Susie Gilley, Kate Skinner, Colleen Reyes (Peter), Katie Macias (Dan), Maureen Maracini (Mike), Mary Eileen McCarthy; and many grand and great nieces and nephews.
A Rosary and visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 10, from 3 to 6 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St., Vacaville, followed Monday, Jan. 11, by Eileen\'s funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Marshal and Nut Tree roads, Vacaville.
Eileen was a loving and generous lady who thought of everyone but herself. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her, especially her longtime friends and schoolmates, Kathleen Fox and Alice Mullin of San Francisco. She would want her family to thank and remember the kindness and care of Bang Romero and the others at Golden Care Manor, who helped to ease her pain.
Arrangements are by McCune Garden Chapel, 448-6546.
