Obituary for Edwin Atkinson
Edwin (Big Ed) Wayne Atkinson, 76 of Lincoln, CA passed away peacefully in his home on April, 18, 2018
after a courageous battle with cancer. He touched many lives with his gentle nature and zest for life.
Ed was born in Reno, NV, then later moved to Wheatland, CA where he graduated from high school.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years, Ed was hired in 1964 with Pacific Gas & Electric Company
where he enjoyed a 38 year career in the electric department as a member of the IBEW L.U. 1245.
When not working you would find him spending time on his ranch in Vacaville raising horses, playing
golf, listening to country music, spending time with his family and friends and finding a new passion in
billiards after moving to Lincoln in 2002. Although he wasn’t a big gambler, Ed’s favorite machine was
always the Wheel of Fortune.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ed is survived by his wife Cynthia; his sisters Barbara
(Gary) & Jan (Joe) and his brother John (Mary); children Jacqueline, Kimberly, Donald (Carla), & Nancy
(Ceari); grandchildren Amber, Whitney, J.T., Kayla, Kamren, Kaylee, Kaylynn, Kaden, Evan, Charlotte,
Nathan, Ceari & Anaiyah; great-grandchildren Taylor and Beckett, and countless other family and
friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, older sister Beverly and daughter Kari Lee.
Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 2:30pm at
McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main St, Vacaville. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to VITAS Hospice Services, 2710 Gateway Oaks Dr., Ste. 100 South, Sacramento, CA 95833, (916) 925-7010.
